WELCOME TO THURSTABLE & WINSTREE CHURCHES
Thurstable and Winstree is a Team Ministry which was formed by the joining together of nine church parishes
We are made up of All Saints Inworth, All Saints Messing, St Luke’s Tiptree with All Saints Great Braxted, St John the Baptist Layer de la Haye, St Mary Easthorpe, St Mary Layer Breton with Birch, St Mary Layer Marney, St Michael & All Angels Copford.
Each of our churches has its own distinctive character and we have built strong relationships over the years. More details about each of these churches may be found by clicking on the drop-down menu on this Homepage: ‘Our Churches’.
We are in the process of becoming part of a larger
new Blackwater Benefice formed of 18 churches within
the Witham Deanery.
We are looking to recruit more clergy for this and to form stronger bonds between us all.
We will be working more closely together as a team and sharing our talents and strengths.
These 18 churches are divided into four distinct parishes, which are as follows:
The Heathland Parishes (in vacancy): Tiptree with Tolleshunt Knights & Gt. Braxted, Messing, Inworth, Layer Marney & Layer Breton
The Roman Road Parishes, Led by Revd Simon Garwood:
Kelvedon & Feering, Copford & Easthorpe
The Waterside Parishes, Led by Revd Jo Wood:
Tolleshunt D’Arcy, Tolleshunt Major, Tollesbury, Salcott, Layer de la Haye
The Beacon Parishes (in vacancy): Wickham Bishops, Gt. Totham, Lt. Totham & Goldhanger
This is an exciting time to join us as we move together into this new stage of our common life. Our parishes are all committed to the Chelmsford diocesan strategy “Transforming Presence”. We seek to be a Christian presence in each of the communities we serve and all of our churches are keen to welcome new people and to grow spiritually and numerically
